Washroom

Filed under: Uncategorized — tetsuo @ 6:37 am

I want to go to the washroom, whenever I drink something cold to drink, especially a bottl e of coffee. However, there is one serious problem; I can rarely find one of public toilets  in the towntown in Vancouver!

In Japan, if you want to pee, you can use the toilet in some convenience stores, right? But, in Canada you can't! because any convenience stores have no public lavatories at all! and even if one shop has its own toilet, there always be the wall paper, which says "No public washroom! That's a big problem for me. Currently I can use the public washrooms either the public library or SIN CLAIR center in the downtown, but I'll go to Banff in a few days.

I should find some of the washrooms, anyway.

FIFA World Cup is popular in Canada?

Filed under: Uncategorized — tetsuo @ 9:50 pm

The world cup was held in Germany in this month. However, I don't see any devoted fans of some countries, who singing their anthems or watching the games on the road in Vanconver, as people in Japan do.

Come to think of it, commercials and News programs don't take up the world cup games all that. I have heard that people in U.S and Canada has no so much interest in Soccer games, because they are not exciting.

According to a news paper, the reason is that if they go and come back during the games, they can not miss the goal scene. It's very simple and satisfactory.

Instead of that, hockey is very popular among Canadian. Canada is known for the cradle of hockey and the sports have a high polularity among even young people now. Besides, if they withdraw their gaze, they may miss the goal scene!

which sports is your favoriate, hockey or soccer?

Decayed tooth

Filed under: Uncategorized — tetsuo @ 6:24 am

If you have a decayed tooth and it should be pulled out at the dentist's in foreign countries, that's so bad.

The fee is much higher than we expected! I have heard it costs 500$ per one tooth. With some life insurances, they can not compensate with the doctors fees, because decayed tooth itself is not considered as diseases maybe.

I should take care of my teeth and decide to both eat no snacks and drink no juice before I go to bed. Never!

Pizza

The thing, I am surprised by in Vancouver, is the cost of Pizza. the cost range is from 1.25$ to 1.00 per one slice!

That's amazing for me, because we can not normally buy only one slice of pizza in my country, Japan (mostly we should buy the whole of it).

If I eat two slice of them, I am always full(because it's so big, jumbo pizza! besides, There are many types of pizzas in each shops like a tuna pizza, a pizza for vegetalian, a Garman pizza with a hot sauce and whatever. And pizza can be eaten when you walking, and it a great saving of money as well.

If you plan to visit Vancouver, try it!

Housekeeping!

Filed under: Uncategorized — tetsuo @ 3:59 am

Now I live by myself in the apartment near the airport. Sometimes airplanes go over my flat with the din (that annoys me).

However, the thing, which annoys me more, is housekeeping! Everyday if I am hungry, I should make something to eat, like rice, soup, appetizers and whatever! If my room is little messy with papers (recently I have read many newspapers for getting information of Canada like the things about celebrities and anything) or some garbages, I should clean them up!

Rightly, I should do them for myself, but troublesome jobs anyway.

Banff

Filed under: Uncategorized — tetsuo @ 3:35 am

Hi, there.
About one month has passed since I left my
country.
Nowaday,I get used to English here and drop off my original resumes at many shops (resturants, golf driving lange and so forth) for job application.
And Finally I got one job; Bell boy.
Bell boy is the person who carry customers luggages to thier room and serve them with amenities like towels, sorps and whatever in a hotel. About one week ago, I faxed my resume to a hotel in Banff (Never I dreamed that the manager contacted with me at that time), as soon as I did it, there was a call for me like;

"Hello, I am the manager of ○○hotel, Could I speak with Tetsuo Mitani?"

I was really suprised, but I decided to work there.
However, there is one problem there; The hotel, where I am supposed to work, is in Banff.

Banff is well known for many spots for sightseeing and famous spas. So, many tourists go to there every summer season.
But, Banff is so far from Vancouver, where now I live.

It will take thirteen hours to get there by Greyhound bus, a big bus service company in Canada. That is a horribly long trip!
But, that is a big chance of improving my English and making a killng as well.
So, I will do my best in Banff near Rochy Mount from July!

What is SIN Card?

Filed under: Uncategorized — tetsuo @ 9:12 pm

SIN card (it stands for Social Insurance Number)is the qualification required for applying for a job. If we haven't this card, we can't take a job.

Two weeks ago, I went to SINCLAIR Center, the place in which the applicants hand in the forms of this working  permission. And I took the procedure and waited for the announcement. ”Tetsuo Mitani!"  After 10 minites, the office call my mame. I went to his place and talked with him.
In the conversation, he said "It will takes six weeks to send SIN card."

"What? It is so late! Why?" I asked. he answered" because There are many applicants like you. that's the reason."

Canada has a loose character in a way.

Daily Routine

Filed under: Uncategorized — tetsuo @ 8:57 pm

Nowaday,  I  have a dialy routine; studying English in the language lab. There are many use ful things here, like TV or CD players for all learners.

However, The mood here is little strange. If I make a noise in there, Everyone stare at me, as if they said  "Hey! Don't make a noise, or else!".  I hate such a mood like that!

Anyway, I study English hard, because I must fully understand what people say in English and speak with them here, otherwise I could't find a job.

Today, I go to the library and study hard in the lab,,,,,,, maybe.
